The Mermaid, Spanish chain leader in frozen foods, has closed its last fiscal year -which ended on April 30, 2020- with a growth of 8.1% in sales after billing 163.3 million euros. The company has experienced a substantial improvement in its Ebitda to reach 9.1 million euros, 4 million above its previous year, according to a statement.
These good results have been possible thanks to the development of the strategic plan that was launched in 2018. It is based on five large blocks of vital importance for the company: multi-channel and growth online, with its alliances with Amazon Prime and Glovo Among others, development of its loyalty club, optimization of its commercial space, creation of new points of sale and promotion of product innovation.
With an investment of 25 million euros, La Sirena launched this plan with which it expects to close 2024 with sales of 192 million euros and leave behind the losses from previous years.
Also, in these 12 months, La Sirena has opened 13 new stores and has managed comprehensive renovations of some of its establishments. Currently, the brand has a network of 258 stores in Spain, with a special focus on Catalonia and Madrid.
In addition, “La Sirena continues to contribute to the national economy and employment, generating more than 300 hires during the last 12 months to strengthen its establishments. The chain currently has more than 1,200 workers, ”they point out from the frozen food company.
“In addition to the good results of La Sirena’s activity, the brand’s growth prospects point to the upside and we estimate that they will continue to improve both in total turnover and in the increase in market share, a very important indicator for us. . According to the company, the frozen range is the one with the highest growth in the food sector in this first period of the year. At the end of the first half of the current year, La Sirena consolidates its good performance with growth that is above the market.
