The average daily price of electricity in the wholesale market will plummet to 79 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
For the second day in a row, the price of electricity in the wholesale market fell again. And it does it in an abrupt way. Thus, said price will plummet 36.56%. Therefore, it will stand at 79 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
This is the lowest price recorded for the entire month of October. A month that will be remembered for being the most expensive in history. The data corroborate this: October will close with 212.29 euros / MWh.
Therefore, and given that the average for September was 156.14 euros / MWh, October exceeded that figure by 56.15 euros.
The 79 euros per megawatt hour is very close to the figures that the price of electricity reached in early August. It was, specifically, on August 7 when reached a price of € 65.64 / MWh. Since that day, it has done nothing but grow, and harvest historical records.
The last day of October continues the decline that already happened on Saturday. Then, the price fell 19.18% compared to the previous day. If compared to the same day a year ago, the price has risen by 120.85%.
The highest price this Sunday will be between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when it will reach 148 euros / MWh, while the lowest will be recorded between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., when it will trade at 52.79 euros / MWh.
On average, the price of electricity has stood at 100.7 euros, according to the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) The organization denounces that the government’s measures are being ineffective. “As in previous months, the strong increase in the price of electricity has canceled the measures that the Government has taken to try to reduce the bill,” they point out.
